1. Your roof

For a simple rectangular, equal-pitch roof. Use the full horizontal roof footprint including overhangs, not the sloping length. Both slopes are included automatically.

35° is an example, not a measurement of your roof. Use plans or an existing survey; you do not need to climb onto the roof.

What the example includes

The tile rates assume supply and installation of the covering, membrane and battens, with ordinary fitting waste built into the rate. Removal and scaffolding are separate selectable allowances.

  • Roof area from the footprint method = length × width ÷ cos(pitch). Use the measured-area method for irregular roofs and roofs with different pitches.
  • No allowance for structural timber repairs, insulation, rooflights, dormers, chimneys, complex valleys or leadwork, guttering, asbestos, permits or unusual access.
  • This is for pitched roof covering work, not flat roofs or a complete new roof structure. Tile suitability and minimum pitch must be checked for the chosen product.
  • These demonstration rates and the ±15% range are illustrative assumptions, not market research or a company price commitment.
